Ivan Gazidis ‘wants Arsene Wenger to join him at AC Milan when he quits Arsenal to become their new chief executive’
Rossoneri boss Gennaro Gattuso is under intense pressure at the San Siro with the Italian club sitting 12th in Serie A
IVAN GAZIDIS reportedly wants to hire Arsene Wenger as AC Milan boss when he leaves Arsenal to become the new chief executive at the Italian club.
The 54-year-old will take up his new role starting from next week, with one of his first tasks potentially to appoint a new manager should Gennaro Gattuso should he be sacked.
Club legend Gattuso is under intense pressure at the San Siro, with Milan currently languishing in 12th spot in the table - just six points above the relegation zone.
While the Rossoneri also lost 2-1 at home against Real Betis in the Europa League yesterday - their second consecutive defeat in all competitions.
According to Gattuso is on borrowed time at Milan, with Gazidis identifying Wenger as his possible replacement.
The duo worked with each other for nine years at the Emirates, with the pair believed to have a good relationship.
While it has also been claimed that two other names on Milan's shortlist include Antonio Conte and Roverto Donadoni.
Ex-Chelsea boss Conte has been heavily linked with taking the reigns at Real Madrid should Los Blancos sack Julen Lopetegui.
While Donadoni - who won six Serie A titles and three Champions Leagues as a player for Milan - left his position as Bologna boss at the end of last season.
Wenger recently revealed that he is ready to return to management in January, with Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande believed to be keen on appointing him.
