FOOTBALL fans have reacted to the “dire” state of the pitch at Wembley ahead of Monday’s clash between Tottenham and Manchester City.

The home of English football has already hosted an NFL match this month between the Seattle Seahawks and the Oakland Raiders.

The turf at Wembley has been churned up by the heaving American chargers, leading to concern the pitch won’t be fit for play tomorrow.

Pep Guardiola isn’t happy about facing Mauricio Pochettino there, with the rough ground sure to disrupt City’s stylish tiki-taka approach.

However, there is another NFL game taking place at Wembley today between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

And football fans have taken to Twitter claiming tomorrow’s Premier League fixture could be a disaster, with one saying: “This Wembley pitch for tomorrow night… #cabbagepatch.”

Another wrote: “That Wembley pitch is in fire condition… Have fun with that Spurs!”

One tweeted: “That Wembley pitch looks awful already without another NFL game being played on it today. Gonna be trashed for #TOTMCI.”

Another said: “Look at the state of that Wembley pitch, and the game’s not even started. No way should we be playing on that surface.”

A final tweet added: “That Wembley pitch is a right mess.”
