FRANK LAMPARD refused to celebrate when Derby scored on his emotional return to Chelsea.

Lampard took his Championship side to Stamford Bridge for the first time in his managerial career as he looked to secure another cup upset this season.

And the former Chelsea midfield star was greeted by a standing ovation from his old adoring supporters when he took his seat in the dug-out before kick-off.

Lampard responded by offering a short round of applause to the stands before settling in for the Carabao Cup last-16 tie.

But he watched on as his young side got off to the worst possible start when they fell behind in bizarre circumstances.

Defender Fikayo Tomori, on loan from Chelsea, made a complete hash of his attempted clearance and the ball sliced off his heel into his own net.

But Derby hit back immediately when Jack Marriott calmly levelled on ten minutes leading to wild celebrations from the players and fans.

But Lampard took a small sip of a bottle of water and then sat down as his coaching staff around him jumped around with joy.

Chelsea soon regained the lead through another own goal, this time from veteran defender Andy Keogh.

Yet Lampard's side were back in it on 27 minutes when another Chelsea loanee Mason Mount crossed for Martyn Waghorn to touch home.

And again Lampard showed no reaction, nodding his head slightly while the players celebrated their second equaliser.
