LIVERPOOL are monitoring the situation of out-of-favour Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele with reports claiming Jurgen Klopp is willing to provide an escape route for the Frenchman.

The 21-year-old has impressed in flashes for the Catalan giants but has mostly featured off the bench this season.

He has missed out on starting in high profile matches such as Barcelona's Champions League match against Spurs last month.

And boss Ernersto Valverde is also growing increasingly frustrated with the discipline of the former BVB ace.

Dembele was dropped in Barca's European tie against Inter Milan for showing up 20 minutes late.

Gerard Pique even joked about the starlet's poor punctuality last season, saying: "“We have a Whatsapp group to talk about the timetables. It's going well… because Dembele always arrives late."

Barcelona forked out an initial £97million to sign Dembele in 2017 but after missing pre-season he struggled in his first season.

According to reports the Barcelona top brass are now ready to cut their losses with the tricky winger - putting Reds boss Jurgen Klopp on red-alert.

Klopp tried to sign him in the summer but the Spanish champions had no intention of selling him then.

However, the German has stiff competition in the market for the forward with Arsenal and Chelsea also keen for his signature.

Dembele is one of football's brightest young talents and would no doubt be a welcome addition for all three Premier League sides.

He has scored five times in 13 appearances so far this term.
