Paul Pogba injury: Jose Mourinho delivers fresh update on Manchester United star after he misses derby defeat
Pogba was a surprise absentee for the 3-1 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium
INJURED Paul Pogba will not join up with France during the international break after watching the Manchester derby from the stands, according to Jose Mourinho.
Pogba was a surprise absentee for the 3-1 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Mourinho insisted the French midfielder would not be involved with Didier Deschamps' team during the break, but chose to focus on his replacement Marouane Fellaini.
Mourinho told Sky Sports: "It's not me to be speaking about a player that was not here after a loss.
"Of course we missed him and one of the things that broke our plan was Fellaini playing 90 minutes.
"Because he is not physically ready to play 90 minutes. He was phenomenal in effort but not in conditions and normally adding Fellaini to this game from the bench is better.

"Imagine bringing a fresh Fellaini on at 2-1 with 25 minutes left. That’s an important thing for us."
Mourinho substitutions did have an impact as Romelu Lukaku's first involvement from the bench won United a penalty.
Anthony Martial converted the spot-kick but the damage had already been done.
David Silva scored the first, before a silver-haired Sergio Aguero added the second in the opening 45 minutes.
Ilkay Gundogan confirmed victory with four minutes remaining to see City go 12 points ahead of their neighbours.
