West Ham transfer news: Samir Nasri’s move to Hammers ‘in danger of collapse’ after fitness concerns
It had been reported that the 31-year-old had underwent a medical as he seeks £80,000-a-week at the London Stadium
WEST HAM'S move for Samir Nasri is reportedly on the verge of collapse with concerns over the Frenchman's fitness.
It was revealed earlier today that the 31-year-old had underwent a medical at the London Stadium as he looks to pen a deal worth £80,000-a-week until the end of the season.
But according to the , the Hammers are ready to pull the plug on the potential move with fears he is too out of shape.
Though it is understood that the club can extend his stay beyond the summer should he impress in the New Year.
Nasri - who last played for Turkish side Antalyaspor - is ready to play in January with the ex-Arsenal star currently serving a doping ban.
The former Manchester City midfielder was found to have breached World Anti-Doping Agency rules in 2016 after visiting the Drip Doctors in Los Angeles.
Why was Samir Nasri banned?
SAMIR NASRI was given a six-month global ban after he was found to have breached World Anti-Doping Agency rules following intravenous treatment in Los Angeles.
Nasri had visited the Drip Doctors in 2016, with a social media post showing him beside one of their professionals after using an IV drip.
He was playing at Sevilla on loan from City at the time and was banned from playing for six months from July 2017.
However, an appeal was launched by Uefa’s ethics and disciplinary inspector, who wanted Nasri banned for even longer.
European football’s governing body was found guilty of using a “prohibited method”.
Drip Doctors said it simply provided Nasri with a drip “to help keep him hydrated and in top health during his busy soccer season.”
Nasri received 500 millilitres of hydration in the form of sterile water containing nutrients.
A move to join West Ham would see Nasri reunite with Manuel Pellegrini - who he worked under at the Etihad and won the Premier League and League Cup with.
But his deal is in jeopardy with West Ham not keen on another high-profile player to be on the sidelines with Jack Wilshere and Andriy Yarmolenko both out injured.
While playmaker Manuel Lanzini is current out with a knee injury after rupturing his ACL while on international duty with Argentina ahead of the World Cup.
West Ham currently sit 13th in the Premier League, and are unbeaten in their last three top-flight games - picking up five points.
