Juventus join race for Man United star Marcus Rashford with competition from Real Madrid

The Serie A champions have begun building a dossier on the England striker ahead of a possible move

JUVENTUS are the latest club to show an interest in signing Manchester United's Marcus Rashford, reports suggest, and their timing could be perfect.

The Times say the Serie A champions have begun running background checks on the England international and have added him to their transfer wishlist.

Max Allegri's side are the second club to be noted with being keen on Rashford, with SunSport aware that Real Madrid are plotting a £50million bid for the 21-year-old.

Real scouts were at Wembley to watch Rashford as England beat Croatia in the Nations League, with Los Blancos viewing him as a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Juve meanwhile have had two opportunities to watch Rashford up close this season in the Champions League but have reportedly been conducting "discreet" cheeks on him since before the group matches.

It comes at a time when Rashford is growing increasingly frustrated at Old Trafford, SunSport understand.

Rashford has endured a tough campaign, scoring twice in 13 appearances for United.

He has started just five Premier League games as Jose Mourinho searches for the winning formula at Old Trafford.

Rashford has 18 months to run on his current contract - which United have the option to extend until 2021 - but a fresh deal will rest on being given assurances over his first team role.

Mourinho attacked sections of the media for suggesting he had underused Rashford this season, and produced a sheet of stats supporting his argument.

He said: “Marcus Rashford is not Dominic Solanke, not Ruben Loftus-Cheek, not Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

player, with an incredible number of appearances and an incredible number of minutes played at the highest level in the best possible competitions.”

While Rashford's form for United has been patchy, his England displays under Gareth Southgate have been encouraging.

He has started each of the Three Lions' Nations League group matches and scored home and away against Spain, including in the 3-2 win in Seville.

A close-range volley also helped beat Switzerland 1-0 in a friendly at the King Power Stadium in September.
