David Luiz to blame for 64 per cent of goals Chelsea let in… and he doesn’t care
Brazilian has been responsible for seven of the Blues' 11 goals conceded this term with fans running out of patience
DAVID LUIZ has been at fault for a staggering 64 per cent of goals conceded by Chelsea this season... but incredibly he's hinted he doesn't care.
The Brazilian defender, 31, has somehow been responsible for seven of the 11 goals conceded under Maurizio Sarri.
Luiz was directly at fault for two of Tottenham's goals in last weekend's 3-1 loss before being slaughtered on social media.
Chelsea supporters went as far as to say he looked like he was "being controlled by a child on Fifa" and would be "dropped by a Sunday League team".
After being pushed too far, Luiz hit back at his critics on Instagram and while he didn't deny his role in the goals he pointed towards his part in Chelsea's fine start to the season.
He said: "And the 28 points we had won?? Leaders always take the responsibility, no problem!!!"
But what exactly has Luiz done to give his own team so much grief and wind up fans so dramatically?
1. Newcastle 1-2 Chelsea
THE Blues were 1-0 up and cruising until DeAndre Yedlin held off Olivier Giroud on the right flank and floated in a cross.
Luiz was tasked with simply attacking the ball and heading clear, yet bizarrely hung back.
His lack of awareness allowed Joselu to dive in a convert a smart header to make it 1-1 with minutes to play.
But Luiz's blushes were spared as Chelsea scored four minutes later through a Yedlin own goal.
2. Chelsea 4-1 Cardiff
MAURIZIO SARRI certainly wouldn't have expected much of a challenge at home to struggling Cardiff.
But the Blues were left stunned after Sol Bamba gave the Bluebirds an early lead.
From a free-kick, Luiz ended up marking absolutely nobody as the big defender pounced on the loose ball to fire home.
Eden Hazard went on to score a hat-trick and Willian added a fourth to ensure the minor gaffe was quickly forgotten.
3 & 4. Chelsea 2-2 Man United
A MASSIVE grudge match, the return of Jose Mourinho to Stamford Bridge... and the Special One got a little help from Luiz.
Luiz played a part in both of United's goals as first of all he failed to clear the ball with a tame header leading to Anthony Martial equalising.
No more than 18 minutes later Luiz was somehow out-muscled by Juan Mata on the right-flank before the ball fell to Martial to make it 2-1.
Ross Barkley bailed Luiz out once more with a 96th-minute leveller.
5. Chelsea 3-1 Crystal Palace
NOW there's no shame in being out-paced by Andros Townsend... but you've got to give yourself a chance.
Unfortunately, Luiz gave himself no hope whatsoever as he drifted into no man's land allowing the ball to be threaded in behind for Townsend to slot home one-on-one.
The goal was the Eagles' equaliser - with Luiz rescued by late goals from Alvaro Morata and Pedro.
6 & 7. Tottenham 3-1 Chelsea
THIS time, there was no-one to bail Luiz out after TWO massive blunders.
First of all, Luiz dived out of the way for Harry Kane to make it 2-0 to Spurs at Wembley.
He then proceeded to allow Son Heung-min to waltz the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-0 and completely kill the game.
Olivier Giroud netted a late consolation, but the damage was already done.
