But in an interview with the same publication the Manchester City and Barcelona target denied the move has been finalised.

The midfielder said: "There is no deal. Nothing has been decided yet. I would not be able to make a decision now. I will not leave in the winter anyway."

Ali Dursun, the youngster's agent, added to : "There is no transfer yet, it is not round. Frenkie is guaranteed to stay with Ajax until the summer and I can not say anything about it."

De Jong has made 22 appearances for Ajax this season and can operate in a holding midfield or central defensive role.

Manager Erik ten Hag has also dismissed the speculation and remains focused on the Eredivisie clash with Zwolle on Saturday.

Addressing the media, he said: "Frenkie already spoke French.

"I also: ç a va. What do I think of PSG? It is certainly a very nice club, but there are also many other good clubs. Each player must personally make his choice.

"I think both the English and French competition is tough and heavy. Certainly in terms of physical strength."

Ten Hag has previous claimed that De Jong is a hybrid of former Barcelona midfielders Xavi and Deco.

The former has attempted to tempt the Netherlands international into considering a move to the Nou Camp.

Xavi, a World Cup winner with Spain, said: “I have not seen him play a lot, but he does look like Sergio Busquets in terms of playing style.

“The Ajax school is a bit like the one in Barcelona. We all come from the Dutch school, via Crujff. De Jong is young, but I think he can make a huge contribution now.

“He is seen as a beastly talent. He is really a player to keep an eye on, a very good player.”

PSG striker Kylian Mbappe has deployed similarly mischievous tactics in an effort to give the Ligue 1 leaders the edge in pursuit of the player.

Speaking to earlier this month the teenager admitted he had spoken to De Jong personally regarding life at the Parc des Princes.

He said: "To be honest, he is welcome in Paris. I have exchanged a word with him, because he could mean a lot to us. The choice is now for him."
