Adam Lallana needed four stitches after clash of heads with Bournemouth midfielder Jefferson Lerma left Liverpool star covered in blood
The English midfielder needed to change shirts and had a huge dollop of vaseline dumped on his head
LIVERPOOL midfielder Adam Lallana was left covered in blood after a nasty clash of heads against Bournemouth.
The Englishman later revealed he needed four stitches following a collision with Jefferson Lerma.
Lallana, who had been on the pitch 20 minutes, was OK but needed treatment on the side of the pitch.
He was made to change his kit while a huge dollop of vaseline was dropped on his head to stop the bleeding.
The 30-year-old was able to come onto the pitch after a couple of minutes to finish the game.
He later posted on Instagram: "Four stitches to go with the three points... but feeling great. Brilliant team performance and result. Congrats to Mo on the hat-trick and Milly for 500 PL appearances."
It was Lallana's first appearance in a month, when he started in the 2-0 Champions League defeat to Red Star.
Lallana, who has endured an injury-hit couple of years, had last played in the Premier League on October 27.
He's already missed seven games having missed 32 last season.
But Reds fans were delighted with how he looked in his cameo.
