Jose Mourinho refused to eat Christmas dinner with Man United staff in last snub before sacking
JOSE MOURINHO refused to eat Christmas dinner with Manchester United’s staff in a last snub before his sacking.
The Portuguese supremo was finally axed by the Red Devils yesterday after a dreadful start to the season.
He had numerous bust-ups with players, along with fall-outs with members of the Carrington training base team.
And it is understood he did not sit down for a traditional annual festive meal with the United staff last Friday.
It came just days before he took his former side to Anfield for a 3-1 hammering by bitter rivals Liverpool.
An Old Trafford source said: “It’s a United tradition that everyone sits down for lunch at Carrington.
“Jose didn’t even bother turning up to the canteen. As soon as training was finished he went back to his office.
“He then got his driver to collect him. It didn’t go down with the rank and file if truth be told.
“Everyone was sat down. It felt like a snub to everyone and their hard work throughout the year.”
United are expected to hold their staff Christmas party at Lancashire County Cricket club on Thursday.

It is understood Mourinho was not expected to turn up to the event, which had again upset staff.
The 55-year-old did not make the lavish bash last year either, but the then boss did post a message in the programme.
Previously, Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes and Louis van Gaal had taken their partners to the party to mix with employees.
The source added: “The club always make sure it is a good night and spare no expense. It is a great morale booster.
“We know it is a busy time of year for the team but nobody is holding their breath that any of them will attend.”
