While the night was tainted by Alli being struck by a bottle, Rose also made headlines for his sensational remarks after the win.

The England left-back claimed: “Our only motivation this week was remembering all the nonsense that Arsenal posted after the game of a few weeks ago.

“They had won a game at the beginning of December yet they were celebrating like they’d just won the League.

“We were fully relishing the opportunity to put the result right and we’re over the moon that we have done that.

“They say that karma is... well, you know what they say. And Arsenal fully got what they deserved.

“We had the chance to get to the semi-finals, but the cherry on top was silencing Arsenal.

“Let’s see where they are come the end of the season and then we’ll see where we are.”

But Arsenal supporters have struck back questioning Rose's credentials in a clear swipe at Spurs' lack of success.
