Man Utd signed Solskjaer in 1996 with four other players – but where are they now?

Norwegian was one of five signings made by Sir Alex Ferguson 22 years ago - some did well but Solskjaer was the pick of the bunch

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER is back at Manchester United in the big chair.

He signed for the Red Devils in the summer of 1996 and remained at Old Trafford for 11 years.

The Norwegian won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and - most famously of all - the Champions League.

Ronny Johnsen

Johnsen is now a United ambassador travelling the world to promote the club.

The Norway centre-back was part of the famous treble-winning season of 1999 and went on to play for Aston Villa and Newcastle.

Jordi Cruyff

The midfielder is currently manager of Chongqing Lifan in the Chinese Super League.

The son of football legend Johan also managed Valletta in Malta, AEK Larnaca of Cyprus and Israel’s Maccabi Tel Aviv after returning to Spain and a brief spell in Ukraine.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Enjoyed 11 years at Old Trafford before hanging up his boots in 2007 to go into coaching, overseeing Manchester United Reserves.

Now the caretaker manager of United on a temporary switch from Molde in Norway after Jose Mourinho was dismissed on Tuesday morning.

Sir Alex Ferguson

Ferguson won another ten Premier League titles after the above photo was taken in 1996 as well as two FA Cups, three League Cups, two Champions Leagues and the Club World Cup.

The former United manager still watches his old side from the director box having recovered from brain surgery in May.

Karel Poborsky

The Czech winger only spent two years in Manchester before time at Benfica and Lazio and then headed back to his homeland.

Now turns out for United legends but the Euro 96 star has been recovering from Lyme disease.

Raimond van der Gouw

The Dutchman made 60 appearances for United as number two to Peter Schmeichel.

Moved to West Ham for a year but then reignited his career at AGOVV Apeldoorn where he scored a penalty in his last professional game.

Van der Gouw worked as the goalkeeper coach under Roy Keane at Sunderland and is now fulfilling the role at his old club Vitesse Arnhem.
