TURKISH outfit Istanbul Basaksehir are considering a shock move for Arsenal star Mesut Ozil.
Real Madrid and Inter Milan have both been linked with the German playmaker after Unai Emery dropped him for the Carabao Cup defeat to Tottenham.
But Basaksehir have emerged as surprise contenders for Ozil's signature, hoping to capitalise on the Gunners ace's Turkish roots.
Some reports now claim that Ozil wants to move to Turkey - should he leave Arsenal in January.
President Goksel Gumusdag told Bild: "Mesut Ozil is a precious player.
"I hope one day our paths will cross at Basaksehir.
As well as Basaksehir, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce would also be interested, they report.
Ozil returned to the Arsenal line-up for the 3-1 win over Burnley yesterday and played a trademark defence-splitting ball in the build-up to his side's opener.
But after seeing his game time limited under Unai Emery, a January exit is on the cards.
Basaksehir could try to take Ozil on loan for the rest of the season but would struggle to cover his £350,000-a-week wages.
The Super Lig outfit - who have former Gunners Gael Clichy and Emmanuel Adebayor in their side - are currently six points clear in the table.
Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has close links to the club and could try to use his influence to secure a deal.
Ozil was strongly criticised in Germany after being photographed with the leader before the World Cup and retired from international duty over the abuse he was subjected to over the snap.
