Man Utd ‘make £54m offer’ for Douglas Costa, paving way for Alexis Sanchez exit
Brazilian forward Costa is yet to score this season but could be the solution to United's Sanchez problem
MANCHESTER UNITED have made an incredible £54million offer for Juventus' lethal left-footed forward Douglas Costa, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho may have been sacked on Tuesday and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer installed as caretaker boss but plans for the future continue.
The 28-year-old Brazilian is yet to score this season, though, with his last goal coming in May.
Costa's arrival would pave the way for an Alexis Sanchez exit after the Chilean's nightmare 11 months at Old Trafford.
Mourinho took the Chilean to United on a free from Arsenal in January, picking up wages of £505,000-a-week.
But he's only scored three Premier League goals since signing for the club.
Rumours suggested Sanchez wanted to leave Old Trafford next month to join Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
While the departure of Mourinho may see a rejuvenation of the 30-year-old forward, the United hierarchy will not have been pleased with headlines he's made off the field.
SunSport revealed earlier this week that Sanchez had sent a WhatsApp message to team-mates suggestion he won a bet on Mourinho's sacking.
He posts a message in a players' group revelling in the Portuguese coach's demise and claiming he was now owed £20,000 from Marcos Rojo. Sanchez has denied this.
And rumours suggested he only speaks with three members of the United squad - David De Gea, Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku.
Upon his return to Manchester United's training base yesterday after a spell in Chile, Sanchez caused further controversy with a video he posted on social media.
