KYLE WALKER-PETERS exorcised his Nou Camp demons with a hat-trick of assists.
The England Under-21 defender set up all three of Tottenham’s first-half goals for Christian Eriksen, Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura.
Harry Kane and Son netted after the break to complete the rout – but it was Walker-Peters who was the hero.
Aged 21 years and 257 days, the defender became the youngest player to provide three assists in a Premier League game since Jermaine Pennant did so for Leeds against Middlesbrough in August 2003.
Victory saw in-form Spurs keep up the pressure on Manchester City and Liverpool in the race for the Premier League title.
It was KWP’s Premier League start of the season and his first appearance since his nightmare at the Nou Camp when his slip let in, Ousmane Dembele to slot Barcelona ahead in Tottenham’s Champions League crunch.
And even though Moura’s equaliser saw Spurs qualify for the group stage alongside the Catalan giants, you wondered what damage had been done to Walker-Peters’ confidence and maybe even career.
Well, we discovered the answer here - absolutely none whatsoever as he put on a mature display to show he has the mental toughness to match his talent.
Bournemouth started well, creating the game’s first real opening in the 13th minute. Right-back Simon Francis, played in down the right by David Brooks, did brilliantly to deliver a sliding cross to the far post where, unfortunately for him, Ryan Fraser and Junior Stanislas got in each other’s way, causing the chance to go begging.
Brooks then had a great to chance to score after Jefferson Lerma’s, ball sprang the Spurs offside trap and put him one-on-one with Hugo Lloris. But the Wales star tried to chip the ball over the 6ft 2ins keeper and the effort was saved - and how Walker-Peters made the Cherries pay.
First the full-back, in acres of space on the right, played the ball inside to Eriksen, whose 25-yard found the net courtesy of wicked deflection off Lerma to put Tottenham 1-0 up in the 16th minute.
Walker-Peters then set up the second seven minutes later when he took the ball off former Spurs youngster Charlie Daniels on the edge of the Bournemouth box and squared for Son who took a touch before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
And KWP ensured this game was as good as over when he pulled the back for Moura to lash home Tottenham’s third goal in the 35th minute.
Bournemouth tried to claw themselves back in the game before the break with Stanislas and Daniels each having headers saved by Lloris.
The Cherries misery was compounded on the stroke of half-time when full-back Francis was carried off on a stretcher after falling awkwardly during a challenge with Son.
Stanislas thought he had pulled one back for the visitors in the 53rd minute but Stanislas’ close-range tap-in was ruled out for offside.
Kane made it 4-0 when he swivelled and fired home Eriksen’s ball into the box.
And Son, who scored twice in Sunday’s 6-2 win at Everton, bagged a brace for the second match running as he almost walked the ball into the net following a huge goalmouth scramble.
