FA investigate alleged homophobic chanting by Forest fans during third round tie at Chelsea

CHELSEA’S FA CUP victory has been overshadowed by accusations of homophobic chanting by Nottingham Forest fans.

Sections of the 3,000 visiting supporters could be heard singing ‘Chelsea rent boys’ during and after their team’s 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.

It is a well-known and offensive song aimed at Chelsea and complaints were posted on social media as well as to anti-discrimination organisation Kick It Out.

A spokesman for them said: “We've received reports of alleged homophobic chanting by Nottingham Forest supporters at Chelsea during today's FA Cup fixture. We have passed those onto The FA and offered our support in any possible investigation.”

Chelsea fans have themselves been accused of singing racist songs in recent weeks aimed at bitter rivals Tottenham who they face on Tuesday night in a volatile Carabao Cup semi-final first leg.

One Blues fans was also fined and banned from attending matches for three years for singing homophobic songs at Brighton.

Nottingham Forest were contacted on Saturday night for a response.

The game witnessed a tearful ‘farewell’ by Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas who looks set to join French side Monaco even though no formal deal has been done yet.

Fabregas, 31, missed a first half penalty but was still given a heroic send off when substituted with five minutes to go.

Fabregas said: “I saw the keeper going down in the middle of the run an I thought I had it. It was unfortunate. the day I got 100 caps for Spain I also missed a penalty, so it was destiny

“The occasion got the better off me to be honest. I didn’t expect any of this. I cannot really say anything out of respect for Chelsea Everyone knows the situation how it is we have to wait and see how it is.”

Alvaro Morata scored the goals that put Chelsea into the fourth round but still stormed off down the tunnel when he was subbed with 15 minutes left.
