Crystal Palace eye Tammy Abraham loan from Chelsea after Wolves switch stalls
Eagles are desperate to add some firepower to their attack for the second half of the season after scoring just 19 goals in 21 Premier League games
CRYSTAL PALACE are looking to beat Wolves in the chase to get Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham on loan, according to reports.
Eagles boss Roy Hodgson is desperate to add some firepower to his attack as his side have scored just 19 goals in 21 Premier League games, leaving them six points above the drop zone.
The deal for Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke collapsed due to fitness concerns and the claim Palace have now turned their attention to Abraham.
The Chelsea academy product, on loan at Aston Villa, is one of the hottest properties outside the top flight with 16 goals in 21 games for the Championship side.
However, Palace face competition from Wolves, who were close to signing the 21-year-old for £18million this month.
But the move stalled due to Fifa rules not allowing players to appear for three teams in one campaign.
Latest Palace news
Abraham featured for his parent club in the Community Shield and an Under-23 game before moving to Villa Park on loan.
The Premier League and FA are happy to sanction the deal, but SunSport have been told Molineux top brass are waiting for clarification from Fifa that they can go ahead with the move.
Palace could wait to see the outcome of Wolves' request from Fifa then decide if they want to try and persuade Abraham to return to London.
Villa boss Dean Smith is desperate to hold on to his leading scorer as he aims to move up from tenth place into the promotion slots.
Chelsea have insisted their man stays out on loan instead of a permanent move.
But the Blues would be keen to run the rule over Abraham in the top flight for the second half of the campaign as they ponder their striker options for next season.
Abraham penned a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge 18 months ago and has made just two sub appearances for his parent club in the Premier League.
His only real taste of top-flight action was on loan at Swansea last season where he scored five league goals as the Welsh side were relegated to the Championship.
