SunSport understands Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has been tracking the 27-year-old’s form for several months.
Klopp — on course to bring the English top-flight title back to Anfield for the first time in 29 years — isn’t looking to make signings during the January window but is weighing up potential summer captures.
And Forrest’s impressive 17-goal haul for Celtic and Scotland from 38 games this term has captured his attention.
He is a key part of Brendan Rodgers’ team and under contract until 2022, meaning Celtic would demand at least £8million for the Scotland star.
