CRISTIANO RONALDO won his first piece of silverware for Juventus as he netted the winner against AC Milan in the Italian Super Cup in Jeddah.
The Portuguese forward steered his header past Gianluigi Donnarumma in the 61st minute after getting on the end of Miralem Pjanic's pinpoint delivery.
Ronaldo, 33, has starred for the Old Lady since moving to Turin last summer, where he has already banged in 16 goals in all competitions.
And his close range header was enough to seal Juve's first Super Cup triumph since 2015.
Things went from bad to worse for Milan after Ronaldo's second half strike, with Ivory Coast international Franck Kessie shown a red card in the 74th minute for a dangerous tackle on Emre Can.
And Gennaro Gattuso's side were left enraged after being denied a penalty in the closing stages when it looked as though Can had fouled Andrea Conti.
While Gonzalo Higuain - on loan at Milan from Juve - was fuming following the full-time whistle after feeling his side should have been awarded a spot-kick.
But they can have no complaints over the scoreline, with Massimiliano Allegri's side dominating the match, controversially staged in Saudi Arabia.
Douglas Costa, Joao Cancelo and Ronaldo all went close in the opening 45 minutes, while Blaise Matuidi had a goal ruled out for offside.
Milan struck the bar through Patrick Cutrone in the 48th minute, but they failed to create any clear cut chances after.
Paulo Dybala had the ball in the back of the net, but like Matuidi, was judged to have been offside.
Ronaldo failed to put the icing on the cake as he raced clear on goal in the dying seconds, with Donnarumma this time foiling the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
Both teams will now turn their attention back to Serie A where Juve hold a nine-point lead at the top, while Milan trail fourth-placed Lazio by a point.
