Chelsea loanee Baxter went head-first into his team-mate, who suffered a brutal gash to his head.

The ball continued to ping around the box but Yeovil safely defended it away as attention soon turned to the bloodied Gafaiti.

Amazingly hardman Gafaiti, who had blood smeared all over his face, pleaded with the match physio to stay on.

Gafaiti reportedly said: “Don’t take me off, I’m not coming off.”

Though showing great bravery, Yeovil boss Darren Way decided to take the centre-half off with Bevis Mugabi taking his place with a quarter of the game left to play.

Yeovil were 1-0 up at the time of the head clash, thanks to a Thomas James goal eight minutes in, and their lead was doubled moments before full-time.

Alex Dorbe made it 2-0 as Yeovil won their second game on the spin - as they sit 20th in League Two.

Way praised the resilience and organisation his his side after securing a vital three points.

He said: "Two clean sheets. It feels good; that winning feeling. It's important to realise why the players are playing like they are.

“I think the hard work never lies. We've done that in the last two games.

"I just felt what with the resilience and organisation and discipline throughout the group, that we were never going to lose that game.";
