RAFA BENITEZ is finally going to get some reinforcements as Newcastle close in on the signing of Jordan Lukaku from Lazio.
The left-back is expected to finalise a move to the Magpies on loan for the rest of the season within the next 24 hours.
The 24-year-old star, brother of Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku, has struggled for match action this season.
Now he will join his sibling in the Premier League after Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi deemed him surplus to requirements.
His arrival will provide welcome relief to Benitez, who has been desperate to bolster his relegation-threatened squad.
And the Spanish coach will be hoping Lukaku is the perfect solution to his left-back nightmare.
Newcastle’s only other recognised player in that position, Paul Dummett, has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.
That has forced Benitez into playing winger Matt Ritchie at left wing back in recent weeks with a back three.
Lukaku, like brother Romelu, started his career at Anderlecht and has gone on to win seven caps for his country.
He has appeared 73 times for Lazio since joining the Italian giants in 2016 from Belgian outfit Oostende.
