Arsenal offer Roma chief Monchi technical director role and expect him to sign

The Gunners are ready to match his £1million release clause to see off interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United

Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have both shown an interest in the Spaniard and the Gunners are eager to move quickly as a result.

Monchi's arrival would be the latest change behind the scenes in north London.

Head of recruitment Sven Mislintat left the club after just over a year earlier this month after being overlooked for the post.

That followed Ivan Gazidis' move to AC Milan as chief executive last year.

Raul Sanllehi and Vinai Venkatesham were then appointed head of football and managing director respectively, just months after Unai Emery succeeded Arsene Wenger as manager.

Credited with discovering a host of young Spanish players and as the architect of a number of cut-price transfers, Monchi could prove to be a key addition for Arsenal.

Emery worked alongside Monchi during the pair's spell together at Sevilla, during which time the club won the Europa League three times.

He moved to Roma in April 2o17, signing a three-year deal, but that agreement is set to come to an end 12 months ahead of schedule.
