Leeds United star Kemar Roofe built fashion label Custom Rare with his brother, selling clobber to teammates
Roofe still acts as a face for the brand by wearing the clobber. He also helps his bro Alex sell the range to his teammates
Leeds star Kemar Roofe isn’t just a talented goalscorer, he’s also an ace fashion designer.
Back in 2013, the former Oxford United hero teamed up with his brother Alex to deliver the brilliant brand Custom Rare.
The creative pair incredibly hatched the idea for the cool streetwear label at their parents’ home in Walsall.
Roofe recently told SunSport: “My brother Alex is so creative. He’s good at making stuff and runs his own clothing brand.”
And like Dele Alli with Leo Fortis and Marvin Morgan with Fresh Ego Kid, it all started for Roofe when he and his brother initially launched a baseball cap range.
He would sit beside Alex, who had his own sewing machine, giving some input into the designs.

The two were clothes’ horses when they were in their teens, but struggled to find clobber they liked.
Instead, they decided to create their own fashion house, designing it themselves and getting it manufactured locally in the Midlands.
With pencils, sketch pads and their phones, Kemar and Alex created baseball caps first, then T-shirts, hoodies and jackets.
It was something Kemar did in his downtime from playing football, and it ended up becoming a success.
Although he stepped away from the business in 2017 to concentrate on his football career, Kemar is still very much the face of the label. He often poses on social media wearing the brand and promoting it.
While he admitted to in 2016 if he’s wearing the range, he’s always quick to make some sales of Custom Rare in the dressing room.
He said of his teammates: “If I’m wearing something they like, I try and work up something similar for them and sell them it.”
Luckily for Leeds United’s stars, they won’t have to part with much cash should they want to delve into the Custom Rare collection – that also caters for women.
A cheap and cheerful black T-shirt with the brand’s logo on the front costs as little as £20.
While, if you’re still feeling the chill, then the starting price for a hoodie is £3o and coats start at around £65. You’re thankfully not paying Balenciaga prices here.
And Custom Rare are keen to help you accessorise, with bags, belts, sunglasses and even necklaces available as well.
Roofe also told SunSport that his four-year-old daughter Alarnie is entering the fashion world too… as a model.
He revealed: “We signed up my little girl to a modelling agency.
“This week she was doing a TV commercial for Aldi. She’s done JD, Next, Speedos. She enjoys it.
“We don’t force her to do it. If she says she doesn’t want to do it, then she doesn’t do it.”
It seems that creativity runs very much in the blood of the Roofe family.
