Mourinho playing as a loudmouth defender in son Jose Jr’s five-a-side team… as he awaits Real Madrid call
Jose, 56, admits he doesn't run much when going up against the teenagers but barks orders
JOSE MOURINHO is playing late-night five-a-side football matches with his son as he awaits a call from Real Madrid.
The Special One has been out of work since being axed by Manchester United in December.
Mourinho, who lives in London, often plays in the evenings with his teenage son Jose Mario Jnr.
The 56-year-old, a former amateur footballer, said: “I stay in the comfortable position on the pitch behind the guys, where I can organise.
“I start the building-up and I don’t run much. They are young guys. My kid is 19. All the other guys are between 19 and 25.
“How would I describe myself on the pitch? I think I am the coach on the pitch, organising, speaking, leading.
“I played in the Portuguese second division, which is like the English Championship, some of us were students, some of the guys had part-time jobs.
“I was 19 or 20, but then I went to university, and it was hard to be at that level and study at the same time. When I finished uni, I went immediately into coaching aged 25.”
Mourinho was speaking in a special programme on Russia Today as he enjoys time away from the dugout.
The Portuguese manager has been linked to Real Madrid and PSG and he put those two European giants on high alert by announcing his intention to be coaching again this summer.
Mourinho, who could take over from under-fire Santiago Solari imminently, added: “I’m in a very comfortable situation. I’m not desperate to work at all.
“I’m studying, doing things I cannot do when I am working, on this side of the TV cameras.
“But I hope to be working in the summer, I hope to be working happily in the next pre-season, June or July.”
