Hardman Koscielny played on vs Man Utd after having huge leg gash ‘CLAMPED together’ in Arsenal win
Gunners captain was shown in agony on the floor with blood coming from left leg but stayed on to help team to victory
LAURENT KOSCIELNY fought on to guide Arsenal to victory over Manchester United yesterday after having a huge gash in his leg clamped together.
The Gunners captain was shown writhing on the floor in agony with blood coming from just below his left knee cap.
Shkodran Mustafi appeared poised to replace Koscielny, but incredibly the 33-year-old played the remainder of the clash.
However, it is not yet clear if Koscielny will be fit enough to feature in Arsenal's crunch Europa League second-leg fixture against Rennes on Thursday.
Arsenal won 2-0 and jumped into fourth in the table thanks to goals from Xhaka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Koscielny, who missed France's World Cup win through injury, said he had started a "new chapter" in his career after coming back from rupturing his Achilles in December.
That career-threatening injury occurred in last May's semi-final defeat to Atletico Madrid.
Unai Emery will hope his inspirational leader is fit enough to fight for a top-four finish with eight games of the season remaining.
