Arsenal no longer pushovers against ‘Big Six’ with Emery winning twice as many points as Wenger did last season
The Gunners have picked up 12 points against top six sides this season - while they only managed half that in their last league campaign
ARSENAL have collected more points under Unai Emery against “The Big Six” than they did with Arsene Wenger last season.
After Arsenal beat Manchester United 2-0 at The Emirates yesterday, they took their tally to 12 points collected against England’s top six sides.
Emery’s men have beaten United, Chelsea and Tottenham at The Emirates this season - as they now sit in fourth.
Draws against Tottenham, United and Liverpool have seen The Gunners bag a further three points.
Last season under Wenger, Arsenal collected half the points Emery has won against The Big Six.
Amazingly last season Wenger steered Arsenal to just one win against against a top six club - a 2-0 home win over their biggest rivals Tottenham.
Wenger, like Emery drew three times, but six defeats, which included United and City both doing the double, saw The Gunners finish in sixth.
Emery was praised for his risky, attacking line-up against United, with Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil all starting.
It was the fifth time the foursome had all started together, with The Gunners winning every one of those games.
Emery’s attack minded rotation was rewarded as his side became the first team to hand interim United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a league loss.
