STROPPY Ole Gunnar Solskjaer accused his players of going back to the Mourinho days.
Manchester United’s interim boss gave his troops the full hairdryer treatment after their FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Wolves.
Solskjaer laid into their slow, laboured style of football — which former boss Jose Mourinho was heavily criticised for before being axed in December.
And the Norwegian told his shell-shocked team to use the international break to analyse their own individual performances.
Solskjaer saw the FA Cup as a huge opportunity to lift silverware this season. He had publicly slated their display as “the poorest since I’ve come here” and a “big step backwards”.
While United lost 2-0 to Arsenal in their previous game, he felt they were unlucky at the Emirates.
But the lacklustre showing in losing 2-1 at Molineux on Saturday night led Solskjaer to demand a reaction.
The players had never seen him so angry — and he appears to have learnt the hairdryer trick from legendary former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
Solskjaer was expecting a big reaction at Wolves after the Gunners’ defeat hit their hopes of a top-four league finish.
That did not happen and he warned they were playing the same way as Mourinho wanted them to.
Solskjaer demands a slick, counter-attack style — but felt his players took too many touches again in the Cup shocker.
United’s last chance of lifting a trophy now is in the Champions League, where they face Barcelona in the quarter-finals.
