ANTOINE GRIEZMANN has contacted Barcelona to say sorry for snubbing them last year in the hope he can revive a move this summer, it has been claimed.

World Cup winner Griezmann looked all set to move to the Nou Camp 12 months ago having been involved in lengthy negotiations with the La Liga champions.

But in a shock move on the eve of Russia 2018, the 27-year-old announced he was staying at Atletico Madrid in a television documentary.

That left Barca stunned, with the club believing they had done enough to secure the playmaker's signature after almost a year of working on the deal.

Yet since then, things have not gone well fro Griezmann at Atleti, with the midfielder said to be upset at the way his natural game is suffering due to having to carry out more defensive work to suit the tactics.

And the way Diego Simeone's side crashed out of the Champions League after giving up a two-goal first leg advantage against Juventus has seen him considering his options.

Now have published an article which claims Griezmann's representatives have contacted Barcelona in the hope of reviving a move this summer.

The report suggests the France star has passed on his apologies for the way he turned his back on the proposed transfer last summer, and that he felt it was a mistake.

It also claims Griezmann has made it known that this time round he would be more than willing to make the move to the Nou Camp that he passed up a year ago.

The story suggests that when the apology was made, it left officials at Barcelona stunned.

They had initially been so upset with what happened previously that they were not bothered by what he had to say.

But since then, it is claimed that feeling has softened - especially with Barca looking to strengthen their options in that area in the coming months.

There is the need top bring in a player to help work with Luis Suarez, particularly with Philippe Coutinho struggling to make an impact at the club to such an extent they could allow him to leave at the end of the season.

But the move from Griezmann may have been too late, with the club already looking seriously at other options such as Eintracht Frankfurt's Luka Jovic.
