CURRENTLY, the Foxes forward has not officially retired from England duty.

But in August 2018, Vardy 'stepped aside' from the Three Lions and told boss Gareth Southgate that he only wanted to be considered if there was an injury crisis.

As a result, he has not been included in a squad since - but will be on standby for the Nations League Final's this summer if needed.

Vardy explained to The Guardian: "This has been on my mind for a while.

"I'm not getting any younger and you can see, to be fair to the gaffer, he wants to make it more youthful, which obviously had its benefits during the World Cup.

"Gareth [Southgate] said that he felt I still had a lot to offer, and we've not shut the door completely. If the worst came to happen and everyone was injured, then obviously I wouldn't say no."

As of March 2019, Vardy has seven international goals to his name from 26 caps.
