MANCHESTER UNITED could face stiff competition from Liverpool to sign Juventus striker Paulo Dybala, according to reports in Italy.

The Argentine superstar has been on United’s radar over the past couple of years with Old Trafford chiefs eager to make a marquee signing.

Having been an integral part of their push towards the Serie A title last term, Juve would loathe to let Dybala leave.

He has netted just nine times in all competitions this season, but is still widely regarded as one of the best forwards in Italy’s top division.

SunSport exclusively revealed earlier this month that United are mulling over a stunning £120million deal for Dybala should Romelu Lukaku leave in the summer.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s revolution in full swing, United chiefs have already made tentative enquiries to see whether a deal for Dybala would be feasible.

But according to Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb, Liverpool have designs on landing the Argentina international for themselves.

The report suggests Jurgen Klopp is ‘serious’ on signing the 25-year-old talisman, even though he boasts a fearsome attack comprising of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

MISSES POGBA

Meanwhile, Dybala, dropped a hint at the end of last year that he could leave the Bianconeri and revealed he misses Paul Pogba, who returned to United in 2016 in an £89million deal after quitting the Turin giants.

He said: “I can’t promise I will stay at Juventus forever. It doesn’t depend on me but I don’t even want to say that this will be my last season here.

“I want to win everything now. Football’s strange, you never really know what will happen in the future.

“But right now I do not say to myself ‘this is my last year and I am leaving’. I think of the present and try to win everything.

“Pogba’s departure was a tough hit for me. He is a friend of mine, we were on very good terms on and off the pitch.”
