TOTTENHAM could be looking to pinch Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes from under the nose of Everton.

The Portuguese international was a flop at Barcelona but has impressed with strong performances for the Toffees this season - which has perked some interest in Tottenham.

Tottenham have gone two transfer windows without making any signings so will be keen to get fresh blood into the changing room when the season is out.

With Spurs into the quarter final of the Champions League this season and looking like they will qualify next season, Gomes could be lured to London by the thought of European football.

Everton, meanwhile, have slumped to 11th place in the Premier League having won only two of their last seven games.

Gomes is feeling good about his football after his unsuccessful spell at Barcelona. When speaking to Sky Sports recently, he said: "I feel more like a man now.

"Now I feel mature and experienced. I'm really happy to be in the Premier League and England.

When Gomes reflected on his time at Barcelona he said: "It was tough for me because I wasn't feeling good. I had good moments, but in the bad moments it was difficult because I saw my father and mum suffering.

"It was really difficult for me to take care of expectations, not only from the fans, but my expectations and seeing my parents suffering. It was complicated. I'm enjoying football again.

"I can't say I'm playing my best football, because I don't want to put pressure or walls. I just want to get better physically, to give the best performances that I can."
