A journalist detailed the abuse aimed at both Sane and Gundogan from three supporters, with shouts of “Negro”, “Turk” and “Heil Hitler” all allegedly directed towards the pair.

But the vile trio, believed to all come from the Braunschweig region, have reportedly bowed to “public pressure” and turned themselves in to Wolsfburg cops.

Sport Buzzer’s report also states none of the three men have any previous convictions or have any connection with the right wing scene.

CONDEMNATION

Immediately after the game once the footage of the abuse had gone viral, German football’s governing body issued a strong statement.

It read: “The DFB condemns the racist incident in the international match against Serbia on Wednesday in Wolfsburg in the strongest terms.

“During the match at the Volkswagen Arena, national team players Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan were constantly insulted by a small group of spectators.

“Thanks to the support of a fan, the DFB was able to locate the ticket buyer for the seats where the spectators were sitting.

“The police are now investigating.”

No further update has yet been provided by the police.

'WE HAVE TO FIGHT'

After his Man City club-mate Raheem Sterling alleged he was racially abused back in September, Gundogan spoke about his own experiences of being targeted to his family’s Turkish background.

He  said: “Obviously it’s something we all have to fight, we all have to play our individual roles to make it better for everyone. We have to deal with it.

“It’s not easy because I lived it in the summer as well. I know how that feels and it hurts.

“But at the end we have no other choice but to stay strong and try to go through that period and try to do our best on the football pitch. To keep being successful, that’s what matters.”

Germany are next in action in Amsterdam on Sunday when they face Holland in a Euro Qualifier.

Sane, who narrowly escaped serious injury during the clash with Serbia, and Gundogan will then return to the Etihad to prepare for next weekend’s trip to Fulham in the Premier League.
