Ashley Young was sent off for a rash challenge as United blew the chance to move up to third in the Premier League with six games to go.

The failure to take even a point from the match could prove costly as four sides battle it out for the two remaining Champions League qualification spots.

If Chelsea beat Brighton tonight it will see United slip down to sixth in the table and playing catch-up in the race to qualify for Europe's top competition next season.

But the seriousness of the situation appeared not to have got through to United stars Romero and Rojo on the bench at Molineux.

Television cameras cut to a dejected looking Solskjaer on the touchline in stoppage time as the manager pondered how damaging the result might be for his side.

Yet behind him, Argentinian pair Rojo and Romero were sat giggling and laughing as time ran out with United trailing.

Their apparent indifference to the plight of their team-mates went down like a lead balloon with supporters watching the match.
