Arsenal’s £8m transfer target Nicolas Tagliafico scores calamitous own goal for Ajax vs Emmen
Tagliafico is on the list of full-backs Unai Emery wants to replace Nacho Monreal, who looks set to go at the end of the season
AJAX star Nicolas Tagliafico may have given Arsenal second thoughts over a move for the defender after this calamitous own goal.
The Dutch side and Eredivisie leaders cruised to a routine 5-2 win over bottom-of-the-league Emmen on Wednesday night.
But Tagliafico's howler could well have put the skids on a potential big-money move to the Premier League.
Argentina international Tagliafico, 26, is under no real pressure when he goes to play the ball back to goalkeeper Andre Onana.
But the speed of the pass catches Onana off guard and despite his best efforts to slide down and stop it the ball goes straight into his own net.
Tagliafico - who is rated at around £17million and rejected a new Ajax deal last summer - does not look too fussed about his 63rd-minute howler, though.
He shrugs it off, helped by the fact his side were already winning 5-1.
