MOHAMED SALAH has become the fastest player to score 50 Premier League goals for Liverpool.
The Egyptian, 26, took just 69 Prem matches to reach his half-century, scoring on a ruthless one-man counter-attack against Southampton.
The goal took Salah past previous record holder Fernando Torres, who reached his 50 in 72 games.
Luis Saurez needed another 17 matches to hit the mark and Robbie Fowler another 19.
After the win, the Liverpool star told Sky Sports: "I think that’s goal number 50 for Liverpool in the Premier League so that’s special - and after nine games [without one], but Henderson scored I think for the first time in maybe 30 games so we are both happy.
"Not at all [I didn’t think about passing], as a striker I need to score, I am thinking to score. Maybe if someone is in a better position I can think but I just took my decision to shoot and I scored so I’m very happy about it."
Salah may have reached the mark even quicker had he not been in the midst of a goal drought.
The last time he found the net was back on February 9 - with six Premier League matches passing in that time.
Jurgen Klopp added: "It was goal No50 for Liverpool, an incredible number. He's pretty consistent, very consistent.
"The physical things are always there, but how he stays always calm. It's a nice moment. A first goal after a while."
