MANCHESTER UNITED will have to shell out £110million should they wish to sign Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will make it a priority to sign a proven centre-half this summer, despite having Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo at his disposal.
United's defensive problems have been well documented and Koulibaly is thought to be at the top of his list as they seek to mount a title challenge next term.
The 27-year-old was instrumental last term as Napoli pushed Juventus hard before being pipped to the Serie A title.
However, he will command an enormous transfer fee should United wish to lure him away from Italy.
Also, with United not guaranteed a top four finish next term, they have a significant task on their hands.
SunSport reported last week that United have already lodged a £90m world-record bid for the Senegalese stopper.
UNITED CLEAROUT
The claim the Naples-based outfit do not deem it a necessity to sell him and are refusing to budge on their £110m asking price.
So were United to stump up the full asking price if they are to get their man.
Were they to be successful, they would shatter the £75m that Liverpool paid to bring Virgil van Dijk to Anfield from Southampton in January 2018.
Solskjaer is under no illusions that he may have to get rid of deadwood if he is going to make United title contenders again.
