Joey Barton stars in Fleetwood trailer as Ched Evans breaks up fight in dressing room
JOEY BARTON’s Fleetwood Town stars come to blows in a trailer for the club’s new documentary — featuring controversial Ched Evans breaking up a dressing room brawl.
It has been a dramatic week for the English League One club, with Barton emphatically denying allegations he attacked Barnsley boss Daniel Stendel.
Just hours later, Fleetwood posted a clip for their new TV series on Twitter.
A Season On The Edge follows the former Man City, Newcastle and England midfielder in his first season as a manager.
He says: “I might only get one shot at this.”
The trailer includes several X-rated team talks from the Merseyside-born gaffer.
In one scene, he tells his squad: "Days are long in football, but the years are short."
GO INTO THE ARMY OR SELL DRUGS
The most explosive footage comes from inside the dressing room on match day as Fleetwood’s players scrap, with Sheffield United loanee Evans trying to calm tensions.
Evans was jailed for two and a half years for rape before the conviction was quashed and then cleared altogether.
Barton, 36, doesn’t hold back when asked about why he became a professional footballer.
He says: "My options as a kid were: play football, go into the army or sell drugs."
A man was arrested for an alleged racially aggravated assault following Saturday's League One clash between Barnsley and Fleetwood.
He has been bailed until May and South Yorkshire Police are investigating the incident.
German boss Stendel, 45, lost two teeth in a tunnel scuffle.
Barton wrote on Twitter: "With regards to the alleged incident on Saturday following our game against Barnsley, I emphatically deny the allegations made.
"Given this matter has not been formally closed, it would be inappropriate for me to make any further comment."
