CHELSEA have reportedly joined the race for Sporting Lisbon’s goal-scoring sensation Bruno Fernandes.

O Jogo claims Manchester United face stiff competition in their £86million pursuit of the 24-year-old midfielder who has just broken Frank Lampard’s goal record.

Chelsea’s favourite son scored 27 goals in the 2009/10 campaign, leading his side to a famous Premier League title and FA Cup double under Carlo Ancelotti.

But Fernandes has now broken that incredible figure after scoring his 28th of the season against Aves earlier this month.

The Portugal international is believed to be a prime target for United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

And it’s reckoned the Red Devils have already met with his agent ahead of a summer bid.

Manchester City have also been linked with a move for Fernandes following Kevin De Bruyne’s injury-plagued season.

However, Chelsea have now entered the fray as they look to overturn this summer’s transfer ban.

And United also face added competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid.

But Fernandes is under contract until 2023.

And suitors will have to pay a huge fee to secure his signature at the end of the season.
