But Man Utd must lower their current £160m asking price for the transfer to go through.

SunSport exclusively revealed how Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane gave Pogba an ultimatum over a potential Bernabeu switch by saying: "It's now or never."

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has previously admitted how he had ambitions to build his side around the World Cup winner.

But following a string of under-par performances and question marks over his attitude, he would be willing to cash in at the right price.

, they have slapped a £160m price-tag on his head but Real Madrid want that lowered before delving further into negotiations.

That is because they also have a huge summer ahead that is likely to see them push through deals for the likes of Eden Hazard and Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Pogba still has two years left on his current contract and United have the option of extending it by an extra year.

United's top four failure has seen Pogba lose £75,000-a-week off his current pay packet, further fuelling his desire to quit Old Trafford.

Just 12 months ago he was desperate to push through a move to Barcelona which sparked a fall-out with former manager Jose Mourinho.

If Solskjaer does lose Pogba then it will only make his rebuilding task even more difficult.

The Norwegian is already in the market for at least two new midfielders with Ander Herrera and Juan Mata braced to leave the club.
