Man Utd and Arsenal approach Real Madrid over Marcos Llorente with midfielder keen on Premier League move

ARSENAL and Manchester United are ready to make moves to try and sign Real Madrid's Marcos Llorente, according to reports.

The midfielder, 24, has failed to win over Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu so now looks set for the exit door - and is understood to be keen on heading to the Premier League.

According to , both the Gunners and the Red Devils are considering offering Llorente an escape route and the chance to prove himself in England.

United will of course not be able to offer Champions League football next season, while Arsenal are relying on beating Chelsea in the Europa League final in order to return to Uefa's top table.

It is thought the Blues were also interested but with their imminent transfer ban, a move to Stamford Bridge is off the cards.

No official approaches are thought to have been made at this stage from United or Arsenal but a deal could well be struck.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to lose Ander Herrera from his midfield this summer while Aaron Ramsey is leaving the Emirates for Juventus so both clubs will no doubt be keen to bolster their options.

Llorente has featured just six times in La Liga this season, for a total of 450 minutes, although he missed part of the season with an abductor injury.

The midfielder scored his first goal for Real Madrid - who his father, great uncle and maternal grandfather all played for - in the Club World Cup final win but he has managed just two appearances since Zidane's return to the dugout in March.

And with two games left this season, against Real Sociedad tomorrow and Real Betis next week, it is unlikely the Spanish Under-21 international will play a major role.

Manchester United and Arsenal are set to face stiff competition for his signature, though.

Llorente is under contract until 2021 but if Atletico Madrid sell Rodrigo this summer, the Real man could make the switch across the capital.

Transfer guru Monchi returned to Sevilla this year after leaving Roma and both his current and former clubs are weighing up moves.

Other reports suggest the academy graduate could be allowed to leave on loan but at 24, Llorente will surely want to make a fresh start to properly ignite his career.
