Man Utd fan abuse is ‘killing’ Pogba and he will leave in summer while Sanchez ‘only came for money’, blasts legend Evra
Ex-defender does not hold back as he accuses Chilean flop of rejecting Man City for the Red Devils only for financial gain
PAUL POGBA will be one of the first players out of Manchester United this summer after being turned on by the fans, according to Old Trafford legend Patrice Evra.
The Red Devils finished a miserable campaign in sixth after a 2-0 home defeat by relegated Cardiff on Sunday.
Following the game, the club’s £89million record signing Pogba was abused by fed-up supporters.
And now former full-back Evra, who won five Premier League titles during his time at United, thinks the midfielder will lead the exodus of players out as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempts to rebuild.
POG OFF
Speaking to , the 37-year-old said: “I don't want to blame all the players because I think that some players are here (at United) and they themselves don't even know why they are here.
“I think (Pogba) will leave, because you need to feel the love when you play somewhere, you need to be committed.
“If Paul decides to stay another year and then leave, or stay another few years, maybe the fans will love him because he is committed.
“It's not like I am protecting Paul but when there are incidents like yesterday with the fan, they are killing Paul.”
And Evra believes Pogba will not be the only big-name departure over the next few months.
He thinks £500k-a-week Alexis Sanchez will be on his way as well – and questioned the Chilean's motives for joining the Red Devils in January 2018 instead of rivals Man City.
MONEY MOTIVATED
Evra said: “Some players only come for the money, I am not afraid to say that.
“I have nothing against him, but Sanchez, when I saw the deal, that's when I thought the Manchester United history just went down.
“So I want to know what is the real reason for choosing United? Don't tell me he loved Manchester United when he was a kid.
“He had Manchester City, they were offering less money but he was going to play better football than United - I'm sorry about that, but City play better football and Guardiola will improve him.
“It's either the money or he wanted to be the number one, take the No 7 shirt and be the star.”
And a number of the club’s fans agreed with Evra’s comments.
“Speaking facts,” declared one on Twitter while another said Evra has “a valid point here”.
A fellow supporter wrote: “Evra hit the nail in the coffin when he spoke about Alexis Sanchez to Gary Neville last night, perfectly executed, he said in a very kind and formal way, he is a money grabbing c*** that wants to be the centre of attention.”
"HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD"
Although one called for Evra to stop protecting his fellow countrymen Pogba and call him out as well.
They commented: “Evra think you are a legend but your interview with Neville very quickly turned into you defending @paulpogba if you have the bottle to call Sanchez out for being there for the money then you should also be calling Pogba out for being a s***house too!”
Evra also revealed he was offended to be offered the same deal as Neville in 2008 after Real Madrid came calling.
The Frenchman admits he was tempted to leave for more money at the Bernabeu but was persuaded to stay after his agent told him he had "United DNA".
