Barcelona join race for wantaway Man Utd star Pogba and will sell Rakitic to raise funds for £130m move
Arch rivals Real Madrid were believed to be the club most likely to sign the Frenchman this summer
BARCELONA are reportedly set to join arch rivals Real Madrid in the chase for wantaway Manchester United star Paul Pogba.
Rumours are rife that the French World Cup winner could be set to leave Old Trafford for a second time.
And is reporting that Barca are plotting a £130million move for the 26-year-old midfielder.
And to help fund the move, Croatian star Ivan Rakitic could be sold - and he is sure to have a host of suitors.
Pogba was hotly-tipped to link up with countryman Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid after the French legend went back to manage at the Bernabeu for a second time.
It follows a hugely disappointing end to his Premier League season, after it had taken a turn for the better when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over.
The maverick middle man had a series of run-ins with former boss Jose Mourinho over tactics, the captaincy and social media posts.
But it was Pogba who saw the season out, while Mourinho was axed in December.
UNITED FANS SLAM POGBA
However Pogba was very much a passenger as United failed to make the top four and they were defeated in the Champions League quarter-finals by Barcelona.
United crumbled to a 2-0 home defeat to relegated Cardiff in their final game of the season - with Pogba slammed by fans inside Old Trafford.
Video footage captured the moment some irate Reds gave Pogba a piece of their mind following United’s lap of honour after the final whistle.
Most fans had already left the Theatre of Dreams by that point, unable to stomach Cardiff's celebrations at their team's expense.
But those who did stick around shouted at Pogba to let him know his performance on the day – and throughout the season – was unacceptable.
As a shirtless Pogba stood near the tunnel, one man could be heard saying: “You’re f***ing s**** mate, f*** off, get on your bike and f*** off.”

The Frenchman took it in his stride though, smiling and shrugging at the crowd.
But Pogba’s reaction didn’t stem the flow of anger erupting from the Stretford End though, with many continuing to shower him with a hail of abuse.
Incredibly Pogba was named in the PFA Team of the Year for this season, despite being one of United’s biggest underperformers.
