Arsenal set to miss out on Ajax winger David Neres with PSG joining £44m transfer pursuit
Ace has enjoyed a superb season but it appears he will be heading to Paris instead of London this summer
ARSENAL are reportedly set to miss out on Ajax winger David Neres after Paris Saint-Germain joined the race for his signature.
Esporte claims Thomas Tuchel wants to bring the Brazilian, 21, to the Parc des Princes this summer after a dismal Champions League campaign.
PSG crashed out to Manchester United, despite being 2-0 up from the first leg.
However, they lost 3-1 at home in the return game – much to the dismay of their fans and billionaire owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Despite that, PSG went on to win the Ligue 1 title for a second consecutive year.
And Tuchel will be given another season to make things right before the club look to go in a different direction.
Edinson Cavani is set to be offloaded after clashing with star man Neymar on numerous occasions, which means Kylian Mbappe is set to take over as the team’s central striker.
That frees up a berth on the right wing, and Tuchel has apparently identified Ajax ace Neres as the man to fill that hole.
The playmaker played a key role in Ajax’s European run, with the Dutch side literally seconds away from the final before conceding a late goal to Spurs.
And PSG are ready for Neres to link up with compatriots Neymar, Thiago Silva, Dani Alves and Marquinhos in a new-look XI next term.
It means Arsenal are set to miss out on Neres, who is valued at £44million by his club.
Unai Emery is believed to be a big fan and was plotting a summer bid.
But he has been outmanoeuvred by his old side and may have to look elsewhere for a new wide man.
