CHELSEA legend John Obi Mikel is set to seal a return to the Premier League before heading off to the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Nigerian midfielder, 32, only joined Middlesbrough in January on a free transfer from Tianjin TEDA in the Chinese Super League.
But after Boro missed out on promotion he looks unlikely to extend his six-month deal with the Championship club after receiving several offers from the top-flight.
Newly-promoted Norwich City and Sheffield United are two of the sides chasing the veteran.
And Obi Mikel will decide on his next club prior to heading off on international duty next month.
A source told : “There are some options right now, and a few more we expect to see over the coming days.
“Once all the options are on the table, he will make a decision.”
They added: “He will most likely make the decision before the finals, although that will depend on what is on the table.”
Mikel will head off to Egypt to represent the Super Eagles after receiving his first call-up in 12 months.
The ace is expected to captain his country at AFCON as he looks to help his nation win the crown they lifted back in 2013.
Mikel spent ten years at Chelsea from 2007 and cemented a place in the hearts of the Stamford Bridge faithful during their decade of dominance.
He helped the club to win two Prem titles, three FA Cups and a League Cup as well as the Europa League in that period.
But his highlight came in 2012 as he started in the Champions League Final victory against Bayern Munich and helped the Blues to claim the prize for the first time in their history.
