The former Man Utd man has made 126 appearances and scored 32 goals for the North-Londoners since joining from the Red Devils in September 2014.

Welbeck's contract expires this summer and Arsenal confirmed they would not be renewing his deal in a dramatic on-pitch announcement after their home game against Brighton.

But having returned to full training, reported the 28-year-old is likely to travel to Baku with the squad providing he has no set-backs.

Before his injury, the ex-Sunderland man featured 14 times for the Gunners this season including two goals in four appearances in the early stages of the Europa League.

While Unai Emery is yet to decide on Welbeck's fitness, the striker is hopeful of being named on the bench.

With or without the forward, Arsenal will book themselves a spot in next year's Champions League if they manage to overcome their London rivals in Azerbaijan.

Although news of Welbeck's potential return will be a boost for Emery, he faces the prospect of being without star man Henrikh Mkhitaryan - who may be left at home.

The Armenian's home country are locked in a hostile political conflict with the host nation which could see him left out because of fears for his safety.
