EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR was involved in an ugly touchline fracas as Galatasaray won the Turkish Super Lig in a fiery Istanbul derby.

The former Premier League star and current Istanbul Basaksehir striker was angrily shoved to the bench by Gala's reserve keeper Ismail Cipe.

That led to both managers, Fatih Terim and Abdullah Avci, also getting involved in the scuffle.

Both Adebayor and Cipe were booked for the incident after referee Cuneyt Cakir double-checked the chaotic scenes on VAR.

Riot police were on hand in the Turk Telecom Arena - but that did not stop objects being thrown onto the pitch and a number of stoppages in the first half.

A total of six minutes were added on in all.

Both sides went into the crunch clash on 66 points - but ties are decided by head-to-head record than goal difference in Turkey, meaning the winner of this game would take the title.

And Gala were crowned champions with a game to spare after goals from ex-West Ham star Sofiane Feghouli and Henry Onyekuru sealed a 2-1 win.

But it could have gone either way when Basaksehir took the lead through Riad Bajic on the 17-minute mark.

But Feghouli levelled matters two minutes after the break and Onyekuru - on a season-long loan from Everton - won it in the 64th minute.

That meant Galatasaray retained their title and won the league for a record 22nd time.

For head coach Terim it was also his second in a row and eighth with the club in total.
