Allegri tipped to replace Sarri in Chelsea job swap after admitting he does not want break following Juventus exit
MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI could replace Maurizio Sarri as Chelsea boss as he has admitted he wants to take up a new job from next season.
The Italian coach has been sacked by Juventus, with the Serie A champs targeting the current Blues gaffer, 60, as his replacement.
Chelsea have approached Allegri, 51, on numerous occasions in the past.
And the Blues could finally get their man as Juventus announced on Friday the Italian would not see out his contract, expiring in 2020.
Allegri later revealed it was the Turin side who pulled the trigger, even though he had delivered the Serie A title in every one of his five seasons in charge.
And he has said he does not want to take a break from football, putting Blues chiefs on alert.
Allegri told Sky Italia: "I am not particularly looking for a year off.
"I’ll only take a sabbatical if I have to, but otherwise the idea is to find a project that convinces me.
"Life is full of surprises and you have to be ready for anything.
"I train with joy and fun, because if I am not convinced by the squad at my disposal, I try changing things around, moving players into new positions and finding something different, otherwise I get bored."
Allegri has reportedly been learning English for a while now - and said last year he would like to take up his next job abroad.
And Sarri's future at Stamford Bridge remains uncertain, with Juventus making him the No1 target for the vacant post in Turin.
Meanwhile, Blues legend Frank Lampard is reportedly also being considered for the Chelsea gig.
Lampard is one game away from securing Premier League promotion with Derby, who will face Aston Villa in the play-offs final at Wembley next Monday.
