Chelsea ordered to pay Conte £9m compensation after bitter legal battle with former manager
Blues had claimed the Italian had effectively breached his own contract with his behaviour in his second year at the club
CHELSEA have lost their £9m compensation battle with former boss Antonio Conte.
In another blow for the Stamford Bridge outfit, a Premier League arbitration tribunal ruled in Conte’s favour after a 12-month spat.
Conte had demanded the payment in full after being sacked in July, two months after the end of last season.
The Italian’s lawyers argued that Chelsea owed him a year’s salary.
Conte was even pushing for an extra payment, suggesting that being sacked so late in the summer meant he was unable to find a suitable job.
The former Chelsea boss is set to go back into management with Inter Milan for next season but will do so with a huge extra boost to his bank account.
He even reportedly snubbed former club Juventus after agreeing the deal to take over at San Siro.
