Arsenal striker Lacazette snubbed by France boss Deschamps again with form of Sevilla striker Ben Yedder blamed
Gunners ace has not played for Les Bleus since bagging twice against Germany in 2017, missing out on the 2018 World Cup in Russia
DIDIER DESCHAMPS has revealed Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette has missed out on a France call-up because of Sevilla striker Wissam Ben Yedder.
The Gunners ace has not played for Les Bleus since November 2017, when he bagged twice against Germany.
Lacazette, 27, was voted Arsenal's Player of the Year following his brilliant form in the second part of the season.
His three goals were crucial in the Europa League semi-finals victory over Valencia, taking his tally to 19 in all competitions.
But Deschamps insists Ben Yedder's performances eclipsed those of Lacazette, with the Sevilla striker netting 30 times in the 2018/19 campaign.
The Les Bleus coach, however, has left the door open to the Gunners star, who missed out on France's World Cup victory in 2018 after being named on the standby list only.
Deschamps said: "There’s no reason for us not to see him [Lacazette] again, I had a difficult choice to make, with Ben Yedder coming out of a big season too.
"You have the right to have a preference for Alexandre, like others have for Wissam.
"I have a choice to make and I chose Wissam. He has scored 30 goals in all competitions this season.
"He scored in big games, he knows how to play in alone in attack.

"He’s named in this group of attackers as another option at one time or another."
Ben Yedder has made just one appearance for France, playing 17 minutes against Colombia in his debut last year.
Les Bleus will take on Turkey and Andorra in the Euro 2020 qualifiers next month.
